Character: Jake Peralta
Series: Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Character Age: 34
Job: Wannabe Camper
Canon: What happens when an immature ace detective starts working under a new by the book commanding officer? Brooklyn Nine-Nine centers on the development of this detective as his new captain teaches him how to grow up and follow the rules. Of course, that’s not the only thing that revolves around NYPD’s Precinct 99. It also touches the crazy lives of its four other top detectives, and its civilian administrator who all have their strange quirks and issues.
Jake Peralta is considered the best detective in 99, having the most arrests and being able to get murderers to confess in twenty minutes or less. He loves solving puzzles, but it seems that the only puzzle he can’t solve is how to grow up. He’s very laid-back, childish, obnoxious, and doesn’t respect the system (ie. wearing ties, cleaning his desk, doing paperwork properly, etc.). His silly antics always get him into trouble with 99’s Captain, but at the end of the day, he sends the right people to jail… although, you may just want to tune him out whenever he talks because he just doesn’t stop.

Hello, ladies, gentlemen, the undead, and Kraken’s wife. Good to see all of you! I’m Detective Jake Peralta, here to serve all of you as your resident awesome camper detective and occasional party host. I work for the NYPD—probably obvious because of the very shiny badge I’m wearing—and being sent to Europetown to do some field work’s really exciting!
Oh, yeah, I just made Europetown up. You know how there’s Chinatown, and you get to see some Chinese-looking buildings there and all that? Well, this looks just like Europetown! Or maybe… something like Sound of Music-town might be better. In any case, that’s what I’m calling it because this place’s real name is bad for the kid's ears and I really want to be a good role model to teenagers even though I listen to those dudes who made an explicit song about being on a boat.
By the way, there were some paperwork that I had to file earlier. . . some questionnaire with “why are you joining this community” and “can you swim”. I mean, come on, if I wanted to do some paperwork, I wouldn’t. Which is why I’m totally a camper and not a counselor. All I wanna do is get to know all of you, maybe play some fun games like paintball with the zombies. . . you know, all that fun stuff! No paperwork for me, unless I have to sign up for paintball with zombies. Now, that kind of paperwork, I wouldn’t mind.
Now, onto serious business, I guess. I read about the case files about some murder that happened here. Buuut that thing’s been going on for eight years now. . . and even though it’s not cool that the perp was never found, I gotta say… this thing’s a cold case.
And now, prints, pictures, and white outlines are all that’s left at the scene of the crime of a cold case love.
. . .No one gets the reference? Rihanna song, released in 2009… no? No? Yeah, alright. You’re all bummers, and I’ll be sending you guys links to some music videos latro.
